Maggots and former MPs: I’m a Celebrity is back

I'm A Celebrity logo on a TV

The UK’s favourite critter-infested show is back on our TV screens for the next three weeks and we couldn’t be more excited. Even if one celebrity has already been pulled out only 24 hours in.

I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here is back down under in Australia for its 22nd series after spending two years in Wales through the pandemic and viewers are thrilled to see the beloved camp back in action. Even hosts Ant and Dec started the series stating how good it is to be back.

With a lineup including soap stars, footballers and both musical and radio legends, the first ever dating reality show star – Olivia Attwood – has already had to leave the jungle on medical terms.

Attwood’s publicity team posted a statement on her Instagram account saying how “heartbroken” she is and how she had “dreamed of doing ‘I’m a Celeb’ for years”. In the first episode she threw herself out of a helicopter with hardly any fear and was taking every challenge in her stride.

At the end of her statement she adds “Ps. Who’s going to roast Matt Hancock now??”. With her early departure, ITV has released a statement today that former Tory MP Matt Hancock will be going into the jungle during tonight’s episode.

Having Hancock taking part in the show has caused a lot of controversy, with our newest Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, stating that he is “very disappointed” in his decision to join the show. The memes have already started to roll out on Twitter about his arrival.

Tonight’s episode is expected to be entertaining because it will feature comedian Babatunde Aleshe, who is set to take part in the first solo trial of the series. However, I think there is going to be even more excitement around how the celebrities will take on their newest camp mate.

Don’t miss I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here on ITV at 9:15pm tonight or on ITVHub.
