MOBO Trust have joined forces with Help Musicians UK to launch a grant scheme that aims to help struggling musicians.

It’s been announced that MOBO will be offering grants of up to £2,000 for musicians who behold that special something. The idea behind the scheme is that it will aid musicians who are just starting out in their career and perhaps need financial support in areas such as; vocal coaching, recording studio facilities or promotional materials.

The organisation which recognises musical achievements and talent within the genres of Hip Hop, Grime, RnB/Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel and African music, are keen to encourage artists from outside the mainstream bracket to apply for the scheme.

Discussing the new scheme, NME reported that Kanya King, founder and CEO of MOBO organisation said: “In the past year alone, the British black music scene has grown from strength to strength, contributing hugely both commercially and artistically to our industry” and the intention is to continue supporting these genres.

The MOBO Awards have been running since 1996 and are set to be held on 29th November this year at First Direct Arena in Leeds. Grime artist Stormzy is leading the way this year with five nominations.
