With Enola Holmes (2020) receiving an outstanding 91% on the Tomatometer, it’s only natural to expect the anticipated second film, Enola Holmes 2, which is out today on Netflix only.
Adapted from Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries books, who has already claimed that she ‘loved’ Netflix’s adaptation of her books; Sherlock’s sister is ready to take back her limelight. Enola (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown) takes on her first official detective case with the help of Sherlock (Henry Cavill) himself. But for Brown, this isn’t the first time she gets to showcase her hyper-intelligent character portrayal, as we’re used to seeing her in action for the popular series Stranger Things (2016-).
Given Brown’s history of intense roles, it must be a sigh of relief for her to be able to play a character that isn’t constantly portraying heavily strong, intense emotions and supernatural powers as her character, Eleven, from Stranger Things does. Although Enola still takes herself very seriously in the lifestyle she pursues, she has these fourth wall comical breaks which significantly separates the story from the character – making audiences love Enola’s relatability and quirks as a character even more as we get to know her.
The film is supported by huge industry names such as Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd, Alice In Wonderland), Henry Cavill (The Witcher, Man of Steel) and David Thewlis (The Sandman, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). Whilst being directed by multi-award winning director, Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve); so it’s expected to live up to it’s received score of 91%.
Fans of the first Enola Holmes can’t wait, here’s what some have to say on Twitter:
