The Duke of York has released a statement saying that he is stepping away from his royal duties as the Jeffrey Epstein affair has become a “major disruption” to the royal family.

Following the recent BBC interview, Prince Andrew, 59, stated that with the Queen’s permission the Duke will step back from his duties for the “foreseeable future.”

The Duke has faced numerous backlash the past few days following his interview with the BBC about his friendship with the convicted child sex offender.

The telecom giant, BT called for Prince Andrew to be removed as patron of iDEA – Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award – a program that helps develop digital enterprise and employability skills.

In his statement, the Duke has re-affirmed his position regarding Jeffery Epstein as he stated that he “unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

“His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

“I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives.”

Prince Andrew ended his statement by offering his services to “any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations.”
