The show must go on: Christmas theatre performances still going ahead

This year has been a challenging one to say the least. As Christmas is fast approaching, all is not lost!

Here are some festive theatre shows that are going ahead in the capital both IRL and virtually to spread some Christmas cheer.

 

1. Alice in Streamingland 

A modern twist on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland sees Alice fall into a digital rabbit hole but will she be able to escape? Watch her and some familiar friends try to make it out whilst recording the journey for her TikTok channel.

2. A Christmas Carol

How could you miss this classic performance? The Old Vic’s rendition of A Christmas Carol allows audiences to view the performance live from the comfort of their own home via a streaming link.

This virtual version is sure to live up to the expectations of the traditional tale.

Here’s an interview with actor Andrew Lincoln who will be playing the role of Scrooge.

3. Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas Live

Adapted from a book to a theatre performance, Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas is the follow-up from the multi award winning book This is Going to Hurt, by former junior doctor turned comedian Adam Kay.

This performance promises to deliver laughs and is a tribute to all NHS staff who give up their own Christmases each year to care for others.

4. Pecs: Christmas Queer

Created by the Pecs Drag Kings, this cabaret performance encompasses everything LGBTQ+ with a sprinkle of queer Christmas cheer.

The performances are set to include ‘the greatest festive hits, queermas tales

5. Pantoland at The Palladium

It goes without saying that you just can’t beat a good panto and Pantoland at The Palladium isn’t an exception to the rule.

‘Celebrating the very best of pantomime’, Pantoland boasts performances from ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, Britain’s Got Talent’s Diversity and singer Beverly Knight.

The night is sure to include a number of show stopping numbers ensured to boost your festive spirit.
