West Ham vs Tottenham: Both sides looking to steal spoils in London derby

West Ham will be looking for their first London derby win in seven games against Tottenham tomorrow.

The Hammers have drawn five and lost twice against their London rivals since a 1-0 win over Chelsea last December.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are looking to use the international break as a pit stop to revitalise a lacklustre start to the season. More was expected from a new look side that saw heavy investment during the summer.

That is in stark contrast to a Spurs side that made no new signings during the summer. Mauricio Pochettino’s men sit in fifth place, 11 points ahead of West Ham after just seven games.

However, The Irons will be encouraged by their record against their North-London opponents. Against no other side have they won more Premier League games, with 14 victories.

The gaffers:

Both managers have been coy about their sides respective starts to the season, despite the difference in fortunes. Pellegrini said: “we have played eight games and perhaps we don’t have the points we wanted or deserved. Now we have a chance to add more.”

Pochettino said: “We have one more point than last season and I am not happy about that because we are fifth in the table and the ambition is to be on the top.”

“At the same time, we are realistic and with all the circumstances we suffered in the summer, with the World Cup and the players that arrived the week before the start of the season, the challenge was bigger for everyone.”

The teams:

Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose all remain unavailable for Tottenham but Christian Eriksen and Moussa Dembele are set to return.

West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic has been declared fit to play after missing one of Austria’s games with an ongoing knee injury. Javier Hernandez and Arthur Masuaku are also expected to return.
