Drinking every night? 2pm starts? We&#8217;ve heard it all before.<\/h2>\n<h3>Reporter: Amie Stone\u00a0| Sub-editor: Jack Cummings<\/h3>\n<p>We all have that friend who left school and ventured straight into the grown up world of work. It&#8217;s a huge, exciting and a brave step to take. However, once those who took it have landed their 40 hour a week job, they often have demeaning perceptions of university students. Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;d like them to know.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>4 HOURS PER WEEK? TRY 40. <\/strong>We get it, you work 9-5. But our days don&#8217;t just consist of 2pm starts.\u00a0If you were to add up all the hours of lectures, seminars, homework, revision, placements and trying to work a part time job you would see it comes to more than 40 hours a week!\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12753\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/giphy-1.gif\" alt=\"giphy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>WE DO WORK HARD.<\/strong> Just because you go into an actual work place every day does not mean we do not understand the meaning of hard work!\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12754\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200.gif\" alt=\"200\" width=\"360\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>ITS NOT EASY COME EASY GO:<\/strong> In our spare time we do have to have a paid job too, because yes we do have bills to pay. Student finance doesn&#8217;t cover everything!\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12755\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-4.gif\" alt=\"200-4\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>FUTURE PROSPECTS:<\/strong> Just because you are earning lots of money does not mean that in the future I won&#8217;t be!\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12756\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-2.gif\" alt=\"200-2\" width=\"253\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>CONSTANT PARTYING?<\/strong> Parties are not as crazy and regular as they seem. But, then again if they are we get on with it. We might moan but we still make it to the 9am lecture. It&#8217;s all part of being young.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12757\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-5.gif\" alt=\"200-5\" width=\"431\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>WE ARE NOT LAZY.<\/strong> We are being pulled\u00a0in more directions than you could ever imagine! The workload is constant!\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12759\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-1-1.gif\" alt=\"200-1\" width=\"301\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>SOCIAL LIFE?<\/strong> If I see you in the library I might get a chance to say hello to you!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12760\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-6.gif\" alt=\"200-6\" width=\"356\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>YES, I AM IN DEBT.<\/strong> Thanks for reminding me. It doesn&#8217;t matter though because I&#8217;ll pay it back when I can afford it, and I have had the most amazing three years.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12761\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-7.gif\" alt=\"200-7\" width=\"317\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>DO NOT JUDGE.<\/strong> University is hard work and requires a lot of dedication. You will not understand until you have been. I applauded your decision to dive in head first, so please do not criticise my choice.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12762\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2016\/11\/200-8.gif\" alt=\"200-8\" width=\"356\" height=\"200\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>REMEMBER:<\/strong> slow and steady wins the race!
