They were young and from what seemed to be just an argument, escalated into a wide street fight. At least two people were on the ground.”

The second witness reported: “When we realised the seriousness of the situation, there was already a pond of blood on the footpath and we immediately called the police and an ambulance.”

When the police arrived on the scene, many of those involved ran away.

The witnesses confirmed that the person with the most severe injuries, a young Asian man, was transported to the hospital for medical examination after reported injuries to the face and presumably to the head.

A part of the pavement was blocked off by police but it was reopened after the young man was dismissed from the hospital around one hour after the incident, a policeman at the scene confirmed.

Some glasses were also found on the scene but it stays unclear if they were related to the fight.

“The area, mainly early in the morning, is not really safe and you are likely to bump into drunk people while going to work,” added one witness.

“Many in the area work in pubs, which usually close late at night, or coffee shops and food chains, which open really early.
