You might be wondering what all the fuss is about?<\/h4>\n<p>Well, Unicode Consortium said they felt \u2018embarrassed\u2019 by the plans to create a new &#8216;Frowning Pile of Poo&#8217; emoji, as an alternative to the original &#8216;Smiling Pile of Poo&#8217; popular emoji. Unicode is\u00a0where people work to create popular emojis that appear on Google, Facebook and Twitter (Yes, this is a real job!)<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20647\" style=\"width: 704px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2017\/12\/Screen-Shot-2017-12-06-at-17.34.48.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20647\" class=\" wp-image-20647\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2017\/12\/Screen-Shot-2017-12-06-at-17.34.48.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-20647\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: Sudowoodo via Getty Images<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The proposal to implement changes are currently undergoing scrutiny by members of the Emoji Subcommittee.\u00a0Michael Everson, typographer, responded to the proposal with outrage:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Will we have a CRYING PILE OF POO next? PILE OF POO WITH TONGUE STICKING OUT? PILE OF POO WITH QUESTION MARKS FOR EYES? PILE OF POO WITH KARAOKE MIC? Will we have to encode a neutral FACELESS PILE OF POO?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Decisions about the &#8216;Poop&#8217; are still being fathomed out. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/charliewarzel\/inside-the-great-poop-emoji-feud?utm_term=.udvnVw8pd#.ii1N3QD7x\">Buzz Feed <\/a>is closely following the feud.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Have you ever wondered why this big, loveable &#8216;Pile of Poop&#8217; is so popular?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since its introduction in 2015, the smiling poop has jumped-off the screens and became a popular symbol around the world. Originally, the poop emoji came from a Japanese comic called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3037803\/the-oral-history-of-the-poop-emoji-or-how-google-brought-poop-to-america\">Dr. Slump<\/a>. Plans to implement a llama, badger, peacock and lobster are also on the table.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes may include period emojis for women, self-proclaimed emoji activists\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/nation-world\/national\/article153069849.html\">are fighting for menstrual emojis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Who knows what the 2018 will bring to the ever-loved emoji world?
