The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, brings home all the deep feelings at the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New Zealand with her\u00a0powerful and heartfelt speech about feminism.<\/p>\n

Though there have been many a-great-humans who’ve spoken on this issue, Meghan has established a new meaning for what might be just a term for many, but truly is a modern global movement for human rights in the world. And it’s all about fairness.<\/p>\n

“In looking forward to this very special occasion, I reflected on the importance of this achievement, but also the larger impact of what this symbolizes. Because yes\u2014women’s suffrage is about feminism, but feminism is about fairness.”<\/p>\n

No, it’s not about who pulls the chair for whom at a restaurant or who removes the lizard in the bathroom.<\/p>\n

Feminism is bigger than the matters of what makes a man and a woman, or what they are supposed to get in life. It’s about embracing everything in one’s personality, leaving behind the social restrictions. It’s about being accepted by one’s peers without any guilt or show-off.<\/p>\n

Like Meghan said: “Suffrage is not simply about the right to vote but also about what that represents. The basic and fundamental human right of being able to participate in the choices for your future and that of your community. The involvement and voice that allows you to be a part of the very world you are a part of.”<\/p>\n
