The public can nominate any eminent late scientist from the field such as physics, astronomy and biology to become the new face of the \u00a350 note, according to a statement Bank of England released on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The nominated scientist must be British and dead, and the person can be both male or female. Four scientists will be work with BOE to draw a shortlist from the nominations, and the Bank Governor Mark Carney will make the final decision. The nomination pool<\/a> will be open for six weeks.<\/p>\n

Mark Carney, Bank Governor, said: “There is a wealth of individuals whose work has shaped how we think about the world and who continue to inspire people today.”<\/p>\n

“Our banknotes are an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of UK society and highlight the contributions of its greatest citizens.”<\/p>\n
