While locals living in towns stacked with book shops and pharmacies have a potential for longer life. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>UK\u2019s high streets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The research, conducted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsph.org.uk\/our-work\/campaigns\/health-on-the-high-street.html\">Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH)<\/a>, analysed 70 major UK towns and cities and it turned out that Britain\u2019s High Streets are getting unhealthier.\u00a0Grimsby, which is known as Europe\u2019s Food Town because of its fish-processing industry, now has a worse reputation. The town is the first in the unhealthy High Streets list, followed by Walsall and Blackpool. Empty shops and off-licences were counted and included to the report for the first time. An interesting fact is that vaping shops and cafes are considered beneficial.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_24370\" style=\"width: 407px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24370\" class=\" wp-image-24370\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2018\/11\/photo-1537478165770-df5915734fd0.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"596\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-24370\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by @trance on Unsplash<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It appears that affluent areas, such as\u00a0St John\u2019s Wood, Pinner and Hampstead established healthier outlets on their high streets, while more deprived areas, including Thornton Heath, Angel Edmonton and Neasden provide less healthy shops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See also:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/22746-2\/\">You are what you eat: Deliveroo reveals Londoners\u2019 eating habits by their neighbourhoods<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/\">Evening Standard<\/a>, Shirley Cramer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsph.org.uk\/our-work\/campaigns\/health-on-the-high-street.html\">RSPH<\/a> chief executive, explained: \u201cOur rankings illustrate how unhealthy businesses concentrate in areas which already experience higher levels of deprivation, obesity and lower life expectancy.
