{"id":24422,"date":"2018-11-04T13:00:38","date_gmt":"2018-11-04T13:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/?p=24422"},"modified":"2018-11-04T13:00:38","modified_gmt":"2018-11-04T13:00:38","slug":"big-names-in-fashion-industry-sign-agreement-to-combat-plastic-packaging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/big-names-in-fashion-industry-sign-agreement-to-combat-plastic-packaging\/","title":{"rendered":"Big names in fashion industry sign agreement to combat plastic packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Burberry, H&amp;M and Stella McCartney are only a few of the names who decided to clean their act and fight against plastic pollution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s the distressful statistics that there will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2016\/jan\/19\/more-plastic-than-fish-in-the-sea-by-2050-warns-ellen-macarthur\">more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050<\/a> or the alarming news that we only have <a href=\"https:\/\/bigthink.com\/politics-current-affairs\/scary-un-climate-change-report\">12 years left to reverse the climate change<\/a> until the point of no return \u2013 the biggest names in fashion are finally waking up and are ready to act.<\/p>\n<p>Undoubtedly, plastic is very advantageous. It is featherlight, long-lasting, cheap and easy to make. However, plastic is one of the most dangerous pollutants for our planet.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_24469\" style=\"width: 611px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24469\" class=\" wp-image-24469\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2018\/11\/photo-1531326537431-6197cac3795b-683x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"902\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-24469\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by:<br \/>Simson Petrol on Unsplash<br \/>@simson_petrol<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To combat the plastic pollution and minimize the plastic that enters oceans (<a href=\"https:\/\/oceanconservancy.org\/trash-free-seas\/plastics-in-the-ocean\/\">eight million tons yearly<\/a>), 290 Organizations Worldwide including <em>Burberry, H&amp;M, Zara<\/em> and <em>Stella McCartney<\/em> have decided to clean their act.
