The prescription will acknowledge that time spent in nature can help reduce anxiety and blood pressure and help improve happiness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/news\/prescribing-nature-shetland\/\">Dr Chloe Evans<\/a>, GP at Scalloway Health Centre told Voice of London, \u201cThe project provides a structured way for patients to access nature as part of a non-drug approach to health problems.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/NCIMHealthcare\/status\/1060522356341440512<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whilst London GPs may not openly be prescribing \u2018nature\u2019 as a way to treat patients, Jean Paisley, a specialist case management pharmacist at NHS tells us, \u201cthe nature initiative is nothing new. It is well known that both exercise and sunlight can improve mood, so there is no reason why these methods can\u2019t be put into practice in London.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">NHS England currently advertise \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/contact-us\/privacy-notice\/how-we-use-your-information\/public-and-partners\/social-prescribing\/\">Social Prescribing<\/a>,\u201d which involves helping patients improve their health, wellbeing and social welfare by connecting them to community services which might be run by the council or a local charity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dr Damien Hughes, anaesthetist at The Ulster hospital, tells Voice of London, \u201cWhile the wildlife side may be difficult to \u201cprescribe\u201d for Londoners, the idea of getting out into the green spaces, and promoting mindfulness is one that could definitely give similar benefits. The whole idea of being outside and immersing yourself in the moment, noticing the landscape, being mindful, has a good basis in practice for anxiety and depression.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dr Hughes also highlighted the intercity benefits of life in London, \u201cThere may be group relaxation techniques available, like outdoors tai chi, which wouldn\u2019t be an option in the Shetlands. Getting close to nature in London could mean something different, for example allotments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Scotland created a calendar of seasonal activities supporting the news at Scalloway GP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">J<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\"><strong>anuary<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\">&#8211; Step outside \u2013 be still for three minutes and listen<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>April<\/strong> &#8211; Clouds are often described as wispy (cirrus), heaped (cumulus) and layered (stratus).
