Their bold and dazzling colors, bling-bling sequins, luxurious wild prints, sexy tulle, dynamic tassels and other elements blended together to present a grand and exciting disco carnival night.

Halpern’s bold use of vintage elements won Topshop over, and the British high street fashion brand announced their collaboration on August 20.

Michael Halpern is a New York designer who graduated from the Parsons School of Design in the United States. His mother often told him stories about dancing in studio 54 and St. Regis, so the sparkling disco style of the 70s inspired Halpern’s design. One can always see a lot of “flashing” sequins, tassels and other elements related to the 70s.

Michael Halpern previously made an impression at the Centre Saint Martins MA show in 2016. He was applauded by Sarah Mower, chief fashion commentator for the US version of VOGUE magazine and emerging talent ambassador of the British Fashion Council. Halpern’s celebrity fans include Amal Clooney, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert and Marion Cotillard.

The 28-piece series from Topshop and Halpern launched on November 7, including neon velvet items, two prints, color decorations and rainbow-colored mini-dresses which cost only £40. During the holidays and the loads of Christmas parties, we couldn’t find a designer more appropriate to bring fun to our winter fashion.

Check out the collaboration on Topshop’s website here: www.topshop.com

Feature image: Imagine China

Words: SiJie Ren | Subbing: Shruti Tangirala

Topshop x Halpern Series Takes Off The Topshop x Halpern series incorporates autumn and winter trends, including neon velvet items, two prints, color decorations and rainbow-colored mini-dresses.
