London takes Christmas makeover very seriously. Every street, every house, everything has the scent of Christmas at least two months in advance. Needless to say, when those Christmas lights come on, the expectations are high, but London never disappoints.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BqDRLLFBqe0/

The dazzling Christmas lights tradition in London began in 1954 when retail stores and businesses arranged for a display through the Regent Street Association. The aim at the time was to show that post-war London has not lost its light.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BqNhmTghX0O/

The tradition has been around ever since. The new star of Doctor Who – Jodie Whittaker – did the honour of turning on the Christmas lights on Regent Street this year, while All I want for Christmas is You plays in the background. The event this year included performances from West-End musical showstopper Dreamgirls and British superstar Callum Scott. Luckily, we were able to capture the ‘lights on’ moment on camera, all is in the video below.

With a month left until Christmas, London has finished decorating.
