Given that the latest book is written from the perspective of a maester, taking on a task of writing a chronicle of the legendary house Targaryen, the story lacks the gripping narrative we were so accustomed to in Mr. Martins saga. Some of the bigger issues fans had pointed out included a slow pace and mundane, often dry storytelling. All this combined with a general distaste at the fact that it’s another companion book as opposed to progressing the story further, caused a flood of mixed reviews.

Me trying to finish Fire & Blood before I die pic.twitter.com/nLdLFhS3S1

— Jess Joho jessjoho@bsky.social (@jessjoho) November 20, 2018

It's all fine & dandy that we just got 'Fire & Blood' from GRRM but I am dying for 'The Winds of Winter'. 😩 #gimme #TWoW

— Rizzo ₁₈₊ (@sheripsbongs) November 21, 2018

@GRRMspeaking Can't wait to get my hands on Fire & Blood! 😇 #Benicetogeorge

— UnFrayed (@TheUnFrayed) November 17, 2018

https://twitter.com/LastAfricanHero/status/1065791786642300928

Game of Thrones is coming back to HBO for its final chapter in April of 2019.
