The increase of yearly season tickets cover \u00a3148 for Brighton to London (from \u00a34,696 to \u00a34,844), \u00a3130 for Gloucester to Birmingham (from \u00a34,108 to \u00a34,238), and \u00a3100 for Manchester to Liverpool (from \u00a33,152 to \u00a33,252), as stated by an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/2018-11-30\/rail-fares-to-increase-by-average-of-3-1\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ITV report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This will be the largest rise since January 2013, according to Office of Rail and Road&#8217;s data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27689\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-30-at-4.38.00-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1104\" height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Paul Plummer, the Chief Executive of the industry body, the Rail Delivery Group (RDG), told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/2018-11-30\/rail-fares-to-increase-by-average-of-3-1\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ITV<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: &#8220;Nobody wants to pay more to travel, especially those who experienced significant disruption earlier this year.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Money from fares is underpinning the improvements to the railway that passengers want and which ultimately help boost the wider economy.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;That means more seats, extra services and better connections right across the country.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Mayor London, Sadiq Khan, confirmed tube and bus fares will not rise in the next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUST ANNOUNCED: We\u2019re freezing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TfL?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TfL<\/a> fares for the third year in a row next year, saving millions of Londoners money on their daily journeys &#8211; and new weekly capping will help Oyster Card users save even more. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/h7yo0iYBUH\">https:\/\/t.co\/h7yo0iYBUH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Sadiq Khan (@SadiqKhan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SadiqKhan\/status\/1068467280034582528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 30, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There have been calls for prices to be frozen following chaos caused by the implementation of new timetables in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andy McDonald, the Shadow Transport Secretary, told\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-46387030\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the increase showed &#8220;a government and rail industry out of touch with passenger concerns&#8221;, while Mick Cash, the RMT Union General Secretary, called it &#8220;another kick in the teeth for passengers on Britain&#8217;s rip-off privatised railways&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Comments and opinions from Twitter:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This increase is a real slap in the face to long suffering rail passengers.
