This is the reality of the search for Madeleine McCann.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Police received a further\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-46196238\">\u00a3150,000<\/a> in government funding last week to aid their search. The investigation was taken up by The Metropolitan Police in 2011 after the Portuguese police had few successes in their search. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-46196238\">BBC News reported<\/a> that detectives have been applying to the Home Office every six months for a grant to continue their work.<\/p>\n<p>The extra influx of cash was met with criticism from other parents of missing children around the UK, claiming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/madeleine-mccann-missing-charlene-downes-13592502\">&#8220;all missing children need a voice.&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0Karen Downes, the mother of 14-year-old\u00a0Charlene Downes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/madeleine-mccann-missing-charlene-downes-13592502\">told the Mirror<\/a>, &#8220;A child goes missing in the UK every three minutes.
