{"id":28759,"date":"2018-12-09T12:00:21","date_gmt":"2018-12-09T12:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/?p=28759"},"modified":"2018-12-09T12:00:21","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T12:00:21","slug":"coral-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/coral-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Coral of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3HSH8dj2VRE]<\/p>\n<p><b>Tickle me pink &#8211; or \u2018Living Coral,\u2019 to be exact: coral has been deemed Colour of the Year by Pantone.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With every day seeming to bring a new headline about how the world is breaking down, Pantone knows what humanity needs as 2018 comes to a close \u2014 a Colour of the Year that reflects \u2018warmth and nourishment to provide<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/store.pantone.com\/uk\/en\/color-of-the-year-2019\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">comfort and buoyancy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" style=\"text-align: center\">Introducing the 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pantone?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Pantone<\/a> Color of the Year: Living Coral.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">It is a warm natural shade that\u2019s energizing, stunning, and at the intersection of the biggest visual trends. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lQMk3ELeZv\">https:\/\/t.co\/lQMk3ELeZv<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COY2019?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COY2019<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LivingCoral?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LivingCoral<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/te6UP19rP7\">pic.twitter.com\/te6UP19rP7<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u2014 Adobe Illustrator (@Illustrator) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Illustrator\/status\/1071104700156600321?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 7, 2018<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unlike \u2018Rose Quartz\u2019 (also referred to as \u2018millennial pink\u2019) which was Pantone\u2019s Colour of the Year in 2016, the deep pink colour has a \u2018golden undertone\u2019 which is meant to \u2018energise and enliven\u2019 those whom it is perceived by. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The colour pink, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorpsychology.org\/pink\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to the website Colour Psychology, is generally associated with not being able to \u2018see the negative aspects of reality.\u2019 \u00a0Deeper pinks, like Pantone\u2019s \u2018Living Coral,\u2019 can bring about connotations of \u2018confidence and energy\u2019 while also eliciting feelings of non-threatening and optimism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pantone\u2019s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, stated in the Colour of the Year<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pantone.com\/color-intelligence\/color-of-the-year\/color-of-the-year-2019\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">announcement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: \u201cWith consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, the deep pink colour hasn\u2019t hit a positive response from everyone.
