{"id":30939,"date":"2019-10-27T19:52:23","date_gmt":"2019-10-27T19:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/?p=30939"},"modified":"2019-10-27T19:52:23","modified_gmt":"2019-10-27T19:52:23","slug":"rugby-world-cup-2019-weekend-roundup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/rugby-world-cup-2019-weekend-roundup\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby World Cup 2019: Weekend roundup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend saw the final four teams battle it out for place in next week&#8217;s final in Yokohama, kicking off with England against New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Roses got an early lead with a try from Manu Tuilagi, and lead by 10-0 at the end of the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Tries from Sam Underhill and Ben Youngs were ruled out by video referee, before Ardie Savea scored one for the All Blacks in the second half. But it wasn\u2019t enough to catch the on-form England side, who showed they are worthy of their world number one ranking by making four penalties, all scored by George Ford, and a conversion from Owen Farrell.<\/p>\n<p>The final score of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/rugby-union\/50192618\">19-7<\/a> in favour of the Red Roses is one of the best performances by the team, and secured them a place in the final.<\/p>\n<p>England were runners-up in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbyworldcup.com\/teams\/england\">2007<\/a>, where they lost to South Africa, and lifted the trophy in 2003.
