trafficking awareness posts actively shared across social media platforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Human trafficking is at an all-time high and still increasing at alarming rates across the globe,\u00a0a 2019 study conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) revealed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yury Fedotov,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNODC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Executive Director said in a public statement: \u201cThe report was undertaken for a simple reason: if we want to succeed in confronting human trafficking in all its manifestations, we must better understand organisation <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stopthetraffik.org\/\">Stop The Traffik<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> urges the world stay aware of people that could potentially be victims of slave trade and stresses the wide range of different types of illegal trading involving humans such as domestic servitude, forced marriage, organ harvesting, forced criminality, drug trade, child soldiers, sexual trafficking and labour exploitation, with the latter two being the most common.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Multiple human-rights groups fighting against the dark world of sex trafficking stress the importance of spreading the message on every social media platform possible, as the most common targeted group is women under the age of 40, many being children as young as 11.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_34479\" style=\"width: 279px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" girls,\u201d says Fedotov. \u201cThe vast majority of detected victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation and 35 percent of those trafficked for forced labour are female\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recently, tips on ways to protect yourself from potentially dangerous individuals involved in the industry of human trafficking have flooded social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_34478\" style=\"width: 312px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img infographics, videos and screenshots on these sites &#8211; especially among youth &#8211; will contribute to the decline of human trading in the near future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shivafoundation.org.uk\/\">Shiva Foundation<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an active and successful corporate organisation aiming to tackle and prevent human trafficking and modern slavery in the UK, stresses the importance of public education and business partnerships<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on the human-rights issue in their mission statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe believe that collaboration and partnerships with businesses, governments, local communities and civil society organisations are key to creating systemic change. The organisation acknowledges the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> rapidly evolving landscape of human trafficking and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">aims to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">identify opportunities for new and different types of intervention within the trafficking industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With the help of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/atleu.org.uk\/\">ATLEU<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspartnership.org.uk\/modern-slavery-police-transformation-unit\">Modern Slavery Police Transformation Unit<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Human Trafficking Foundation has produced and frequently updates a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humantraffickingfoundation.org\/support-services\">national map of support services<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> providing aid for trafficked survivors throughout the UK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the United States of America, teenage non-profit organisations are producing media content to raise awareness of sexual exploitation as the US is one of the highest-rated first-world countries for sex trafficking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Student-led anti-sex trafficking organisation <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"http:\/\/shiftfreedom.org\/\">Shift Freedom<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> released a short film in 2018 entitled \u201cOblivious\u201d which centers around a seemingly \u2018normal\u2019 girl experiencing the vicious cycle of sex trafficking.
