{"id":34668,"date":"2019-11-29T14:43:55","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T14:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/?p=34668"},"modified":"2019-11-29T14:43:55","modified_gmt":"2019-11-29T14:43:55","slug":"__trashed-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/__trashed-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Free and Floral: Alexander McQueen exhibition opens tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alexander McQueen opens a free exhibition, <em>Roses<\/em>, on the top floor of their Old Bond Street store on the 30 November 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The garden of dresses is structured around two archival centrepieces: A sculptural piece \u201cRed Rose dress\u201d from the recent Autumn\/Winter 2019, and Lee McQueen\u2019s finale gown for his Sarabande Spring\/Summer 2007 collection.<\/p>\n<p>Co-curated by the brand\u2019s Creative Director, Sarah Burton, the exhibition is dedicated to young talent as a site of inspiration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B5hngS1Bm1C\/\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B5hngS1Bm1C\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Roses<\/em>\u00a0veers from the norm, speaking to <em>Vogue<\/em> Burton said, \u201cI want to show how community is at the heart of everything we do at Alexander McQueen. Right from the beginning, when I started with Lee, from Central Saint Martins is 1996, and there were only a few of us, he gave everyone &#8211; the interns as well, hands-on experience in making things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition challenges the usual air of mystery that surrounds luxury fashion, Burton&#8217;s\u00a0committed\u00a0to in sharing her vision and knowledge with future designers.<\/p>\n<p>A dress in the Spring\/Summer 2020 show worn by model Stella Tennant was embroidered with sketches made by Central Saint Martins students during a fashion illustration session held by the luxury brand earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Showcased on the top floor of the new Mayfair flagship shore, the inspirations and research behind each collection are displayed in detail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B5k86CXIxbg\/\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B5k86CXIxbg\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And her committal to budding talent is not unnoticed, the respected British designer is set to\u00a0be honoured as Fashion Awards\u2019 Trailblazer, on December 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rosa Yates<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alexander McQueen opens a free exhibition, Roses, on the top floor of their Old Bond Street store on the 30 November 2019.
