But then when I didn\u2019t hear anything else just went back to sleep.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The sonic boom was also heard across parts of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A spokesperson from the RAF said:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8220;Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby were scrambled this morning, as part of the UK&#8217;s Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) procedures, after an aircraft lost communications in UK airspace&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was also confirmed that the Typhoons returned back to the base after reaching the aircraft which had lost communication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Metropolitan Police tweeted to assure the public there is \u201cno cause for concern.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The loud bang heard throughout north London and surrounding areas was the result of a sonic boom from RAF planes.
