The groundbreaking news came as a surprise for many people who hope the path to \u201cnormality\u201d is near.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This also makes many people more optimistic about how they will celebrate Christmas with their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, this week two more vaccines announced their success in trials- the Oxford vaccine AstraZeneca and the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On November, 23 it\u00a0was<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>reported<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that the Oxford vaccine AstraZeneca revealed 62% or 90 % effectiveness depending on the doses.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>A few days later the Russian vaccine Sputnik<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>V<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>also<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>notified<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>90 % vaccine efficacy.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Their efficiency results increased in just a couple of days. Please see more information on the infographics below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>What are the similarities of Covid 19 vaccines?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> \u00a0All vaccines need to be kept in a cold environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong>\u00a0All<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>vaccines require two shots<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>a<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>few weeks apart.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are based on mRNA formula<i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>RNA vaccines are very easy to be produced only by using a pathogen genetic code.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>These vaccines work by inserting into the body a messenger RNA sequence which consists of genetic instructions for the vaccinated individuals\u2019 cells to construct antigens and to achieve an immune response.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0<\/strong>AstraZeneca and Sputnik<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>V vaccines<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>are affordable.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>They will cost no more than a few pounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Both AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines use a type of adenovirus as a base.<\/p>\n<p>The Oxford vaccine, for example, uses a weakened type of common flu.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When the vaccine invades the body&#8217;s cells, it will produce<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">&#8220;<\/span>spike protein<span lang=\"EN-US\">&#8220;<\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>of coronavirus.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the vaccine uses chimpanzee adenovirus.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Sputnik V, on the other side, uses the human adenoviral vector-based platform. We have already four vaccines but its vital to work around them and prove their safety.<\/p>\n<p>The author Tri Wibawa highlights in the medical review\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary-wiley-com.uow.idm.oclc.org\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/tmi.13503\">&#8220;Covid-19 vaccine research and development: ethical issues&#8221;\u00a0<\/a>the following concerns:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. It is important that people don&#8217;t get infected with pathogens also known as viruses.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is still a lack of information in regards to pathogenesis and the predictive place of vaccines while examining people who got infected with coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Adverse effects shouldn&#8217;t be tolerated because this could risk the health of many people.<\/p>\n<p>The most important conditions for a vaccine to be effective are the following: safety, efficacy and quality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. \u00a0mRNA technology might not be harmless<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of the governments will like to push the mass production of the vaccines and rely on limited data of promising vaccine candidates.<\/p>\n<p>For example, some of the vaccines use mRNA technology which can lead to several risks such as inflammation and autoimmune conditions.<\/p>\n<p>There are no mRNA-based vaccines that are authorized and used in the market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. \u00a0Lack of animal model and the need for controlled challenge test on people<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A significant step of every vaccine development is the need of a challenge test.<\/p>\n<p>The test is a part of the preclinical research in an animal model.<\/p>\n<p>Since the animal model is not available in Covid-19 testing, there is a suggestion such as human challenge testing to be implemented instead.<\/p>\n<p>The testing will include controlled human infection used on volunteers. Although it is possible , it is highly unsafe for the participants.<\/p>\n<p>In the past the controlled human infection was used in vaccine development of malaria, cholera and typhoid.
