Many are avoiding going to the shops and instead preferring to do their Christmas shopping online. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, several frauds were reported during last year\u2019s festival. According to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, there were 17,405 reports of online shopping fraud, leading to a loss of \u00a313.5 million, which is an average \u00a3775 per incident.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To tackle the issue, NCSC, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a part of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Government Communications Headquarters is<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> advertising a new website and television campaign to help people shop securely.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cyber Aware - shop online safely this Christmas\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F0EDgFbskg8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\nPauline Smith, Head of Action Fraud, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionfraud.police.uk\/news\/action-fraud-launches-new-campaign-to-fight-back-against-fraud-this-christmas\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cChristmas is an incredibly busy time for us all. Many shoppers get caught up in the excitement of Black Friday, so it can be easy to rush into making a quick purchase online to secure a bargain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUnfortunately, criminals will see this as an ideal opportunity to take advantage of shoppers and will tempt them with the promise of cheap deals.
