Fellow cast members and fans of Page took to social media to show their support and their admiration at the young actors&#8217; courage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Umbrella Academy Twitter page was amongst supporters responding to his posy tweeting, &#8220;So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT!!!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udda4\ud83c\udfbb\ud83d\udda4So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT!!!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Umbrella Academy (@UmbrellaAcad) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UmbrellaAcad\/status\/1333821625997864960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One Twitter user wrote: &#8220;You are an example for all the people out there who are scared to come out and express themselves fully. Thank you for inspiring us.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/HecksSara\/status\/1334646264223461377<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite warm reactions to Page coming out, other Twitter users had to come to Page\u2019s defence pointing out that several media outlets were misgendering and &#8216;deadnaming him.&#8217; The Telegraph caught wind of this and even mentioned that the actor coming out was a &#8216;watershed moment for Hollywood&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another Twitter user wrote: &#8220;There is a Dutch &#8216;celeb news&#8217; show, that in a segment about Elliot Page dead named him multiple times.&#8221; The same user then followed up by commenting &#8220;This is not okay and they should apologize for this.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There is a Dutch \u2018celeb news\u2019 show, that in a segment about Elliot Page deadnamed him multiple times. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018[deadname] came out as transgender and is now called Elliot\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This is not okay and they should apologize for this. <\/p>\n<p>Please share so they can see this!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RTLBoulevard?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RTLBoulevard<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; jax | jawstarion (@jawstarion) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jawstarion\/status\/1334200112554389507?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another social media user wrote: &#8220;if I see any of you using Elliot page&#8217;s deadname it\u2019s on sight, it&#8217;s called DEADname for a reason.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/mrseratonin\/status\/1333832450334658560<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although there was an overwhelming amount of support, there were also some mixed reactions concerning Elliot Page continuing to play female roles in the Netflix sci-fi &#8216;The Umbrella Academy&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Earlier on in the week, transgender activist and Emmy nominated actress Lavern Cox revealed that she and a friend were victims of a transphobic attack. Some Twitter users expressed how they felt that people were focused on Page coming out but there was a lack of attention concerning Cox&#8217;s story.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One Twitter user wrote: &#8220;while everyone was talking about Elliot Page, there had been little to nothing said about what recently happened to Laverne Cox.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This morning I saw someone note that while everyone was talking about Elliot Page, there had been little to nothing said about what recently happened to Laverne Cox. <\/p>\n<p>I had no idea of what had happened to her, but I did know about Page.
