{"id":42942,"date":"2020-12-09T12:18:39","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T12:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/?p=42942"},"modified":"2020-12-09T12:18:39","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T12:18:39","slug":"covid-19-vaccine-allergy-sufferers-to-give-their-past-history-reactions-and-gps-getting-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/covid-19-vaccine-allergy-sufferers-to-give-their-past-history-reactions-and-gps-getting-ready\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19 Vaccine: Allergy sufferers to give their past history reactions and GPs getting ready"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Two people have suffered a reaction to the Pfizer vaccine for Covid-19 after getting their first dose On Tuesday 8 December.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has warned the NHS trusts not to give the vaccine to people who have a history of \u201csignificant\u201d allergic reactions to medicines, food, or vaccines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This comes after two NHS staff members who were administered the vaccine on the first day experienced an allergic reaction, NHS England confirmed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From Wednesday 9 December, everyone who <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/covid-19-vaccine-how-does-it-work-and-who-can-have-it\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">will receive the vaccine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will be asked about their past allergic reactions, if any.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MHRA states: \u201cAny person with a history of a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food (such as the previous history of anaphylactoid reaction or those who have been advised to carry an adrenaline autoinjector) should not receive the Pfizer\/BioNTech vaccine.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cResuscitation facilities should be available at all times for all vaccinations.
