TfL\u00a0are in talks of permanently\u00a0closing\u00a0an entire tube line\u00a0in the wake of\u00a0a financial crisis. Last week\u00a0TfL\u00a0revealed that 18 per-cent of\u00a0bus services and 9 per-cent of tube services were facing the axe.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

This reduces the number of bus routes and tube services\u00a0for public transport users\u00a0so, is removing another Tube line any better?<\/div>\n

The Bakerloo, Jubilee, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City lines are all at risk of permanent or part closure in the near future, and with TfL planning to increase fare prices by the New year, passengers face further inconvenience when traveling.<\/p>\n

    TfL\u00a0finance\u00a0chief Simon\u00a0Kilonback\u00a0said that\u00a0TfL\u00a0is in danger of a\u00a0\u201csection 114 notice\u201d<\/a>– meaning it would have to declare bankruptcy\u00a0and\u00a0cause the government to intervene.<\/p>\n

    As a result of this ongoing transport crisis,\u00a0Londoners are skeptical of what would become of traveling\u00a0effectively\u00a0and safely\u00a0in London,\u00a0especially\u00a0as Uber and Bolt prices have soared. By also increasing fare prices,\u00a0it increases\u00a0the vulnerability of women commuting\u00a0at night\u00a0considering the\u00a0axed bus routes and\u00a0no night tubes.<\/p>\n

    London Mayor Sadiq Khan has requested an urgent meeting with\u00a0transport\u00a0secretary Grant Shapps.<\/p>\n

    \u201cEvery journey\u00a0matters\u201d – is what\u00a0TfL\u00a0stands for but ironically their actions are proving otherwise,\u00a0as the transport crisis continues to instill doubt amongst commuters.<\/p>\n
