Revellers will be made to pay for the service amid the financial crisis that has hit TFL since the start of the pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tradition, that dates back to 2000, meant that underground travel is free from 11:30pm- 04:30am and the cost is usually covered by a sponsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the free New Years Eve travel is funded externally, TfL have been unsuccessful securing funding for this year, another setback they are facing alongside talks of a permanent tube line closure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best of Voice of London&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/what-is-omicron-and-will-it-affect-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>What is Omicron and how will it affect Christmas?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/fly-over-the-river-thames-this-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>&#8216;Fly&#8217; over the River Thames this Christmas?<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thevoiceoflondon.co.uk\/e-scooter-experiment-soon-to-be-legalised-in-britain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E scooter experiment: soon to be legalised in Britain?<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/london\/tfl-crisis-latest-no-free-tube-new-years-eve-funding-sadiq-khan-b969574.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Evening Standard<\/a>, TfL said: \u201cFollowing the catastrophic impact of the pandemic on TfL\u2019s finances, TfL unfortunately will not be able to offer free travel on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cServices on the transport network will run through the night, ensuring that people can enjoy everything London has to offer and get home safely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan admits that there is a possibility of a tube line closure as well as 100 bus routes axed unless TfL secures long term funding from the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/london\/tfl-tube-funding-crisis-sadiq-khan-entire-line-may-have-to-close-b969107.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/london\/tfl-tube-funding-crisis-sadiq-khan-entire-line-may-have-to-close-b969107.html\">Evening Standard<\/a> reported that Mr Khan told BBC 5 Live: \u201cOne of the things we are looking into is the possibility of closing a Tube line. Why?
