{"id":45879,"date":"2021-12-08T12:09:48","date_gmt":"2021-12-08T12:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/?p=45879"},"modified":"2021-12-10T12:56:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T12:56:42","slug":"excuse-me-mi-scusi-finally-comes-to-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/excuse-me-mi-scusi-finally-comes-to-london\/","title":{"rendered":"Excuse me?! &#8211; \u2018Mi Scusi\u2019 finally comes to London"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Free booze and not a lot of food &#8211; a review on Covent Garden\u2019s new pasta place on its opening night.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/miscusi.uk\/?hl=it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/miscusi.uk\/?hl=it\">&#8216;Mi scusi\u2019<\/a> \u2013 which literally translates as <em>\u2018excuse me\u2019<\/em>, is one of the most famous sustainable chain of restaurants around northern Italy. It\u2019s highly praised around the Italian younger generation for its delicious but affordable pasta dishes, bruschette and tasty entrees. Its signature, funky plates and simple, high quality raw materials make it a proper pillar of Italian culture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a new Italian pasta restaurant is opening in London, you have to make sure to mark the day in your calendar. And if this new Italian restaurant is promising everybody free food and drinks on its opening night, then you are obliged to grab your dearest friends by their arms \u2013 <em>and throats<\/em> \u2013 and drag them with you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video autoplay controls src=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/RPReplay_Final1638965842.mov\"><\/video><figcaption><a href=\"http:\/\/@miscusi.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWD9xRyFBZn\/\">instagram: @miscusi.uk<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what happened on Wednesday the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of December when \u2018Mi Scusi\u2019 threw a party lit up by Covent Garden\u2019s Christmas lights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternative music blasted through the speakers while waiters danced around Slinsgly Place showering the hundreds of people that showed up with house wine, beer and free stickers.&nbsp;<br>However, while alcohol was flowing right and left, the only free food that was offered to guests were a couple of tiny bruschette, with no promised pasta samples in sight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wait to have actual paid dinner inside the restaurant was about 45 minutes, the queue to get on the booking list never-ending. <br>While the wait in the cold, sparkly and Christmassy London was a rather pleasant scenery to have a chat with your friends and meet new people, the news that all the bookings made up until that point somewhat disappeared came like a lightning bolt on a perfectly blue, summery sky.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295-688x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45896\" width=\"-125\" height=\"-186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295-688x1024.jpg 688w, https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295-201x300.jpg 201w, https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295-768x1143.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295-1032x1536.jpg 1032w, https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2021\/12\/IMG_8295.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 688px) 100vw, 688px\" \/><figcaption><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CXByZ7oI_KZ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">instagram: @miscusi.uk<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And just like that the atmosphere in the tiny alley of Covent Garden completely changed; flowing alcohol and empty stomachs were the protagonists of a picture that I won\u2019t paint but it didn\u2019t really leave much to the imagination. People got wild, and the restaurant staff were absolutely crazy trying to keep things under control.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At that point, it was time for us to surrender.
