London\u00a0saw\u00a0the\u00a0highest\u00a0number\u00a0of\u00a0casualties\u00a0anywhere\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0country\u00a0last\u00a0year,\u00a0along with hostility towards riders as they are\u00a0believed\u00a0to cause inconveniences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#39;re backing a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TfL?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TfL<\/a> ban of private e-scooters on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/London?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#London<\/a>\u2019s transport network. The ban comes in on Monday.  Fire Investigators have growing concerns about the safety of e-scooters &amp; e-bikes due to the amount of fires crews are attending which involve them <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZNoJsexi9c\">https:\/\/t.co\/ZNoJsexi9c<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IudQOXj58g\">pic.twitter.com\/IudQOXj58g<\/a><\/p>&mdash; London Fire Brigade (@LondonFire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LondonFire\/status\/1468900924026499080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the negatives concerning electric&nbsp;scooters and bikes, for some people,&nbsp;it has become another&nbsp;means of transportation for Londoners,&nbsp;especially around&nbsp;central&nbsp;London&nbsp;where public transport is&nbsp;the most efficient&nbsp;way of commuting- and&nbsp;with&nbsp;future plans&nbsp;of increased fare prices,&nbsp;splitting&nbsp;the journey between public transport and riding serves as a frugal compromise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, is it&nbsp;fair to ban electric scooters and bikes on public transport?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both riders and commuters have commented on the banning of&nbsp;e-scooters and bikes on all&nbsp;TfL&nbsp;networks with divided opinions on the matter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serkan,&nbsp;19, said,&nbsp;\u201cThe ban should be applicable&nbsp;to those who ride manual transports&nbsp;I.e&nbsp;bikes and scooters, too&nbsp;not&nbsp;just solely on the electric transports&nbsp;because they both&nbsp;are capable of being a health risk just the&nbsp;severity&nbsp;differs\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samantha,&nbsp;24,&nbsp;said, &#8220;Riding&nbsp;my electric scooter from A to&nbsp;B,&nbsp;just saves a lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;journey time&nbsp;as I split mine in half&nbsp;by getting the train then,&nbsp;using my scooter the rest of the journey.
