{"id":47148,"date":"2021-12-17T23:23:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T23:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/?p=47148"},"modified":"2022-01-05T04:31:26","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T04:31:26","slug":"london-jab-a-thon-weekend-first-24-hour-vaccination-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/thevoiceoflondon\/london-jab-a-thon-weekend-first-24-hour-vaccination-clinic\/","title":{"rendered":"London Jab-a-thon weekend: first 24 hour vaccination clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The first<em> 24 hour<\/em><\/strong> <strong>walk-in Covid clinic has JUST opened its doors in London<\/strong>, <strong>in a bid to get as many Londoners as possible vaccinated this weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today at 6pm in <strong>Tottenham<\/strong>, the <em>Lordship Lane primary care centre <\/em>has opened its doors round the clock for walk-in and pre-booked vaccines and boosters until 6pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a race against time as there is only 1 week left until Christmas. The omicron variant is spreading at an alarmingly fast rate. What\u2019s more, is that at present, over 50 per cent of all Covid cases in London are of the Omicron variant. The NHS is also under more strain, as, in the past week alone, London has seen a 29 per cent increase in Covid hospitalisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OmicronVariant?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OmicronVariant<\/a> latest information<br><br>3,201 additional confirmed cases of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Omicron?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Omicron<\/a> variant of COVID-19 have been reported across the UK. Those are the ones we have got to reach \u2013 as well as those who have not had even one vaccine.<\/em><\/p><p><em>I\u2019m urging all Londoners to please come forward to get your vaccine or booster. It\u2019s never too late and it will save lives.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the 24 hour clinic?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The 24 hour vaccine clinic is in response to the hugely increased demand on boosters and vaccines in the London over the last week. It comes as the UK is facing the threat of some restrictions being re-imposed due to Omicron cases soaring in the UK and worldwide. Ireland and Wales have already re-introduced some restrictions to contain the variant before Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The threat of new measures is looming as the UK has hit record high daily Covid cases for 3 days in a row since the start of the pandemic.
