Their plans will form part of the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/09\/18\/joint-us-eu-press-release-on-the-global-methane-pledge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. and EU-led Global Methane Pledge<\/a><\/em>, which was launched at the COP26 summit in Glasgow last year.\u00a0<\/li><li>Only\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2022\/10\/1129947\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">24 out of 193<\/a>\u00a0countries attending COP27 have submitted their climate plans to the UN ahead of the start of the summit on Sunday 6 November.<\/li><li>The British Government was criticised this week for not paying a promised sum of \u00a3260m in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/global-development\/2022\/nov\/01\/uk-criticised-for-failing-to-pay-300m-in-promised-climate-funds-ahead-of-cop27?utm_term=Autofeed&amp;CMP=twt_gu&amp;utm_medium&amp;utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1667302463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cclimate finance payments\u201d<\/a> to help developing countries fight the effects of climate change.<\/li><li>Climate change activists have been taking to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CkdYpoyo3Xw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CkdYpoyo3Xw\/\">Instagram<\/a>\u00a0to protest #StopRosebank. The UK Government is set to approve drilling in what would be the largest undeveloped oil field in the North Sea \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/petitions\/stoprosebank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rosebank<\/a>.<\/li><li>A UNESCO report has been published with\u00a0findings\u00a0that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-63489041\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">glaciers across the globe will have melted by 2050<\/a>.
