But is it worth the wait?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than a decade after <em>Avatar<\/em>, one of the highest grossing films of all time, was released in 2009 \u2013 it&#8217;s overdue sequel is scheduled to be released next week.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As director James Cameron walked the blue carpet in Leicester Square last night, he was joined by\u00a0old and new faces of his cast. However, it quickly reclaimed its status after its re-release.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first film followed disabled, former marine<em> Jake Sully<\/em> (played by Sam Worthington), who travels to the unacquainted world of &#8216;Pandora&#8217;, the habitat of the \u2018Na\u2019vi\u2019, a race of extraterrestrial, blue humunoids \u2013 where he then acquires the avatar body.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, by the end of the film, he ends up joining the native population in a fight against humans to destroy their land in order to gain a valuable mineral.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Avatar: The Way of Water <\/em>follows the original film many years later, focusing on <em>Jake<\/em>, his family with <em>Neytiri <\/em>(Zoe Salda\u00f1a) and their new life in Pandora.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After several drafts of the script and many delays, its sequel is finally ready to hit cinemas next week and those that have been lucky enough to see the movie before its release have taken to social media to voice their initial thoughts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">James Cameron now has not two but THREE of the best sequels ever made. AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER is incredible. The effects and action is, yes, breathtaking. But it is the story this time that\u2019s the beating heart. It\u2019s more personal, complicated, emotional.
