The Transportation Research Laboratory (TRL) brings together researchers on transport, particularly, but not limited to, the aviation domain, with UoW students.
The Centre for Air Transport Management (ATM) Research is engaged in data driven analysis and applied research for industry and aviation related stakeholders. The Centre develops numerous research projects on passenger mobility, performance assessment, environmental impacts, economic analysis, (network) modelling and simulation, and data management and machine learning. In the last few years, the Centre, through the Transport Research Laboratory, has established working relationships with the School of Computer Science, offering topics and co-supervision for final degree projects for BSc and MSc students. Examples of the work performed include: analysis of simulation output, process mining, clustering of trajectories, optimisation of passenger assignment, and optimisation of aircraft fleet assignment to schedules.
Through the research conducted by the Centre for ATM Research, students can benefit from a wide range of datasets that can be used for various projects, including modelling, data analysis, machine learning, and simulation.
The TRL proposes a range of topics for students to work on: dissertations (BSc, MSc), internships and research experience. More information: https://blog.westminster.ac.uk/trl/projects-and-topics/
