Phase 2

To find out whether the UniVRse programme does help university students feel more confident we are conducting a pilot randomised controlled trial. A total of 90 students with take part in the trial. These students will be randomly allocated to one of two groups: either to receive the UniVRse programme immediately or to join wait list for the same UniVRse programme. The wait list group will be invited to use the UniVRse programme once the trial has ended. Which group people are allocated to is decided by a computer at random.

We will ask the students to complete an assessment made up of questionnaires at the beginning and end of their involvement in the trial. We will assess the effect of UniVRse on social anxiety, confidence, engagement and enjoyment of university studies, and other mental health outcomes including an objective measure of stress (salivary cortisol). We will also interview some of the students who received UniVRse to find out what they thought about it.

To be eligible to take part in the UniVRse trial you must be a current student at the University of Westminster.
