What are the best things about studying History at the University of Westminster? Four of our students share their favourite things about their course.
“The course has been stimulating and has allowed me to indulge in specialised optional modules, from which I can develop and gain new insights into different historical periods. Additionally, the course material on the themes of post-colonialism, nationalism, liberalism, democracy, and post-1789 modern history has helped me acquire integral research and analytical skills, which will be invaluable after I graduate.”
– Mohammed Masoom Ali, History and Politics BA
“The wide range of modules available in my course has allowed me to tailor my academic experience specifically to my interests, which I found especially enjoyable. Studying in such a diverse and international city like London has definitely enhanced my experience as a student. Simply by interacting with students and academics from diverse backgrounds has opened my mind to different views of the world. It also allows me to take a more critical view on what I previously saw as set in stone.”

“The History course at Westminster is incredible because of its lecturers and the hard work they put in to make it a great experience for students. From the very beginning, we were given a detailed overview of what the course would entail and what assignments we would have to complete throughout the year. We were provided with an abundance of online reading materials which was very helpful in completing assignments or even just to read for pleasure. Each individual module is very well structured, presented and taught. I believe it is important that the lecturers are passionate about what they teach and that is certainly the case here. Every lecture is very enjoyable.
What I have enjoyed the most about the course is it has helped me to understand and explore more of my own interests and passions within the study of history. It has assured me that I want to get a PhD and to lecture history in the future.”
– Olivia Kumar, History BA
“My course has allowed me to learn and engage with necessary skills acquired outside lessons, such as writing essays and reports, analysing a document, referencing and footnoting, as well as expanding my knowledge of writing styles. I have enjoyed engaging with the topics most, as it has peaked my passion for the subject.
The teaching team has been amazing. They are always at hand to support me, answer any questions or solve any issues I have. It makes you feel like you are part of a huge academic family.”
– Shannon-Emma Mary Martindale, History BA
