Our Foundation year in Art and Design provides you with a comprehensive overview of six different disciplines. These include Fine Art Mixed Media, Animation, Contemporary Media Practice, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography. Being exposed to a wide range of subject areas means that you can experiment with different specialisms to figure out where you fit the most. Our campus in Harrow, where this course is based, is also known as our creative hub. It\u2019s home to some of our most sought-after creative courses. From Fashion, Film, and Television to Music, Journalism and Digital Media, you can find them all here. The campus is the perfect place for you to study and collaborate with other like-minded students. We also welcome our Art and Design foundation students to the city of London by taking them on field trips to both major galleries and smaller creative spaces. The course is structured to be very practical while also helping students to develop critical academic skills. Alongside very hands-on projects, students will learn the importance of research, critical thinking and reading, which all will be applied to their creative work. Students will also have access to career coaching to develop their academic and professional success.<\/span><\/p>

4. Providing firm foundations for your creative career<\/b><\/p>

At the end of the foundation year, students showcase their creative work as part of an end of year exhibition: an exercise that develops a range of professional practice skills through both self-defined project work and the student-led curation and presentation of a cohesive group show. 5. Access to industry-level facilities<\/b><\/p>

Our university is known for its outstanding facilities, tools and access to a wide range of specialist technicians. One of our favourite facilities is the Emerging Media Space, which has recently been installed with even more professional equipment, including wearable technology for programmable fabric and ubiquitous computing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Students are inducted early on into photography and printmaking facilities within taught projects, enabling you to level up the production quality of your work in both traditional and digital media in an applied setting. You’ll also have the opportunity to use the darkrooms, 3D and ceramics workshops, and professional equipment hire, based on the needs of your developing work.<\/span><\/p>
