Title: THE RENOVATION OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND TEACHER EDUCATION IN CUBA
The talk will describe the basic changes and reforms that have taken place in Cuba in English language and teacher education, as well as the fundamentals that have supported the renovation. The fundamentals have been drawn from the principles of the Cuban System of Education and current ELT methodologies such as communicative language teaching, intercultural communication and the integration of language and content so as to meet the needs of Cuban learners.

ABOUT ISORA ENRIQUEZ O’FARRIL
Isora Enriquez O’Farril is an English language teacher and teacher educator at the Pedagogical University in Havana. She has experience in course planning and materials development for the Cuban context. She is the former Dean of the Foreign Language School at the Pedagogical University and at present is the Coordinator of the K-12 National Curriculum and also of the Language Teacher Education Programme. For many years she has been the lead teacher and Head of the English Language lessons for the Universidad para todos TV programme.
