Westminster Pedagogy: Making a Difference

This year’s Westminster Learning and Teaching Symposium takes place on 26th June 2018, at Marylebone, and the theme is Westminster Pedagogy: Making a Difference

If you haven’t already booked your place at this year’s Symposium then please complete the Annual Westminster Learning and Teaching Symposium Booking Form.

Over the past year, since the launch of the Centre for Teaching Innovation (CTI), it has met, networked and consulted across the University with staff who teach and support learning and teaching in order to identify what is distinctive about the learning and teaching that takes place in our University. In the process, three key areas of distinctiveness have emerged:

v Transformative Learning and Teaching
v Diversity and Inclusion
v Inspirational Professional Practice

This year’s Symposium has been structured around the three areas of distinctiveness, with a series of parallel sessions that will enable individuals and teams to reflect on the different ways in which a particular key area of distinctiveness can be manifested in practice and to stimulate creative and critical thinking in relation to their own practices.

The Westminster Learning and Teaching Symposium is an opportunity for you to contribute to debates and to build networks and collaborations.

The symposium will open with a keynote lecture by Tansy Jessop, Professor of Research Informed Teaching at Southampton Solent University, on ‘Cracking the challenge of student engagement.’ The day will conclude with a Panel Discussion Chaired by Tony Burke, CTI Director of Learning Communities and Employability, who will lead the discussion on “Employability? – What does that have to do with teaching and learning?”
