About
Dr. Andy Pitchford, as the Head of the Centre for Education and Teaching Innovation, Andy is responsible for leading the Centre’s strategic approach and coordinating its various teams. He collaborates with stakeholders across the University to enhance the teaching reputation of the Colleges and Schools. With 30 years of experience in higher education, Andy has held numerous leadership roles in both academic and professional departments.
Academic Professional Development (APD)
The Academic Professional Development (APD) team supports university staff in enhancing their teaching practices and professional growth. They provide workshops, fellowships and training for academic staff to ensure high-quality education.

Curriculum Development Team
The Curriculum Development Team collaborates with academic staff to design, enhance, and evaluate curricula, ensuring alignment with institutional goals. They foster engaging, inclusive, and authentic learning experiences while supporting the integration of innovative teaching methods and technologies to deliver a high-quality educational experience.

The CETI Central Team provides administrative and operational support for all teaching and learning innovation activities across the university. They play a key role in organizing and coordinating CETI’s initiatives.

Foundation Pathways
Foundation Pathways programs provide essential preparation for students entering higher education, helping them develop academic skills and subject knowledge before they start their degree programs.
Student Partnership Team
The Student Partnership team works closely with students to co-design learning experiences and foster a collaborative environment. They focus on creating opportunities for students to participate in shaping their education.
Academic English
The Academic English team provides support for students who need to enhance their academic language skills. This helps students, especially non-native English speakers, to succeed in their courses by improving their writing, reading and communication skills.
