Networking Workshop on 14th October 2019 at the University of the West of England, Bristol
Cost: £50
This event is for colleagues based within academic departments, schools and faculties in higher education (including HE in FE) who have a role (formal or informal) in organisation, leadership and/or management of specific aspects of learning and teaching.
For many staff, their learning & teaching activities and responsibilities go beyond designing curricula and working with students. They are involved in mentoring new colleagues, co-ordinating teams, leading projects, facilitating professional development workshops and seminars, communicating and sharing good practice, contributing to cross-faculty or cross-institutional initiatives, and so on. Whilst this work can be very rewarding there are also challenges including working with a range of different staff, leading without authority, and sometimes being the sole learning & teaching ‘champion’ in a department.
This workshop will provide an opportunity to meet a range of colleagues with similar roles, to share experiences and ideas, and to explore some of the underpinning principles for this type of role in higher education.
The aims of the workshop are to:
- provide a welcoming, confidential space for sharing experiences, issues and ideas;
- explore scholarship, policy and practice relating to educational development and change;
- act as a springboard for further networking and professional development opportunities
The workshop price also includes a copy of SEDA Special 41 (Doing a Good Job Well – Being Recognised as an Experienced, Professional Teacher in HE)
Please see SEDA Website for further details. Follow discussions about this and other SEDA conferences on Twitter using #sedaconf.
