Not the Age of STEM:

Not the Age of STEM: What Students’ Subject Choices Tell Us About British Education since 1945

18th April, 5.30pm, Location Leeds Beckett University, Rose Bowl 437 (Lecture Theatre B)

Public Lecture by Peter Mandler

The history team at Leeds Beckett University are delighted to be hosting a public lecture from Professor Peter Mandler.  The talk is titled ‘Not the Age of STEM: What Students’ Subject Choices Tell Us About British Education since 1945’.

Peter Mandler is Professor of Modern Cultural History at the University of Cambridge and a former president of the Royal Historical Society. The author of History and National Life (2002) and The English National Character (2006), he is an established authority on the cultural, social and intellectual life of Britain since 1800.

His Leeds Beckett lecture will apply these insights to the British educational system. Drawing on the conclusions of a forthcoming book, it will demonstrate how students’ subject choices provide a window into changing values since the Second World War.
