It was a rainy day in Berlin, but the rays of light could be seen through the fluffy clouds. I had hardly convinced myself to open my eyes and leave the bed knowing that I had lazy Saturday ahead! But today there was no time for a long lasting siesta, because a vibrant uproar was strolling everywhere in the city of Berlin!
On the occasion of the international day of the Francophonie, the Embassy of France along with the CFB (Centre Francais de Berlin) and other representatives of the French-speaking landsand regions in Germany hosted the “Fête de la Francophonie” on Saturday, 21st March.
This year’s event started in the afternoon opening gates to everyone who is eager to experience a multicultural and lively day of weekend. There was a whole range of activities, from culinary practices to French music groups performing and singing, and from workshops with children to open debates. If you found yourself wandering Berlin streets, it was worth giving a try.
No matter what roots you have or if your ancestors fought once against France, this event aims to demonstrate the diversity of the French-speaking community, the dynamism of its cultural ingenuity and to promote the moral principles of ‘La Francophonie’: respect for human rights, unity, gender equality and cultural diversity.
…even if you skipped the French classes back in high school, I am sure you speak Napoleon’s language when it comes to French Cuisine – café au latte, un croissant, ou tartine et confiture, s’il vous plaît (le réveil des petits déjeuners).
