A new study by the Climate Policy Initiative has investigated the flows of finance in an effort to discover how much and, crucially, what type of support is being made available to encourage climate resilient development. In assessing the current status of the climate finance landscape, the study shows that while the total amount of climate finance is increasing, the vast majority of these flows are still directed at mitigation efforts. The House of Commons Communities and Local Government Select Committee has published the findings of its inquiry into the Government’s approach to regeneration. The Committee argues that Ministers have no adequate strategy to address the complex problems faced by England’s most deprived communities, and that if further resources for regeneration are not found, there is a risk that major problems will be stored up for the future. The Committee further adds that cancellation of Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder funding had impacted profoundly upon the lives of people across the North and the Midlands.
