From the 1st January 2013, the Considerate Constructors Scheme will be assessing all registered sites and companies against a new five-point Code of Considerate Practice. Both the Scheme and the industry felt that it was time to offer a greater challenge to those who register, placing more emphasis on recognising good practice and ensuring the Code is kept aligned with the industry’s values. The Code of Considerate Practice outlines the Scheme’s expectations for all registered sites and companies, describing those areas that are considered fundamental by the Scheme in helping improve the image of construction. As with the eight-point Code, it applies to all sites and companies, regardless of size, type and location. The headings of the new Code are: Enhancing the appearance; Respecting the community; Protecting the environment; Securing everyone’s safety; Caring for the workforce. The Scheme is also updating the Monitors’ Checklist and will be introducing a new scoring and reporting system.
