The London Legacy Development Corporation came into being on 1st April 2012. From 1st October 2012 it became the Local Planning Authority for its area. A map of the Legacy Corporation area and more detail about the Legacy Corporation’s planning functions can be found on the Legacy Corporation website. The Legacy Corporation functions also include those related to plan making and as a result responsibility for preparing a Local Plan and any other local planning documents and guidance transfer to it from that date. The Legacy Corporation is now carrying out early engagement with the community and statutory organisations to help them decide what should be in the Local Plan.

The Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) is a biennial conference organized in different Asian countries since 2005. The event represents a unique opportunity for Ministers in charge of disaster management from the region and key stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), a global blueprint for disaster risk reduction 2005-2015, which was adopted by 168 UN Member States in the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan in 2005. The conference also serves as a forum to exchange experiences on successful practices and innovative approaches in implementing HFA’s five priorities for action at the national and local levels. The event also provided an opportunity to debate and plan for a successor agreement to the Hyogo Framework for Action. Background documents are available online.

Delivering good homes: Defining, planning, designing, managing and financing. London, 25 October 2012

The conference took participants through the process of achieving good homes. Presentations were given on why building performance in new homes matters, including for energy performance and health and well being and how to deliver this with innovation and quality assurance processes. Other topics covered include housing and community management; management plans for the Bicester Eco town; and new financing models and solutions for good homes. Presentations are available online.
