As part of the Government’s Red Tape Challenge, the scheme by which outdated or over-complicated regulations are improved or abolished, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has overhauled its guidance for Working at Height to make it easier for employers and employees to understand what the law requires of them when working at height.

Bangalore is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. With a population approaching 9 million, it produces around 4000 tonnes of solid waste each day. Most of this is dumped in land fill sites near villages on the city’s outskirts. But is this the best way of dealing with the waste problem? Two thirds of households affected by the bedroom tax cannot find the money to pay their rents, according to new research from the National Housing Federation. An Ipsos MORI survey of 183 housing associations carried out for the Federation found that 66% of their residents hit by the bedroom tax are in rent arrears, with more than a third (38%) reported to be in debt because they were unable to pay the bedroom tax. This is equivalent to 72,000 housing association tenants in England alone who are in rent arrears because of the policy. The research also found that housing associations have invested millions of pounds to mitigate the impacts of the bedroom tax.

The City Momentum Index has been designed to capture evolution, to measure change and to identify which specific attributes will bring new visibility to some cities and reinforce the dynamism of others. The Index is not a measure of pure economic growth and performance, and therefore some powerful and successful cities such as Paris, Moscow, Seoul and Chicago do not appear in the Top 20, while rapidly-changing cities such as Shenzhen, Lima and Dubai do. The City Momentum Index begins to build bridges for the real estate market between those top real estate investment destinations that have an ease of attraction due to their many traditional strengths, and those cities with vision, hard work and energy that have the potential to ascend to new heights.

Deriving from the most comprehensive statistical database available on the tourism sector, the Compendium of Tourism Statistics provides statistical data and indicators on inbound, outbound and domestic tourism, as well as on the number and types of tourism industries, the number of employees by tourism industries, and macroeconomic indicators related to international tourism. The 2014 edition presents data for 203 countries from 2008 to 2012.
