The Public Inquiry into the proposed partial demolition of Smithfield General Market, the Annex, and Redhouse opens 11th February 2014, and is scheduled to last for 12 days, until Friday, 28th February.  Taking place at the Basinghall Suite at Guildhall, the inquiry is open to members of the public. Further details of the inquiry, including all the witness evidence submissions are available online.

This guidance from English Heritage is intended for wave and tidal energy developers; regulators; curators; environmental and engineering consultants; and archaeological contractors/consultants. It is intended to provide an introduction both to wave and tidal energy and to the historic environment, and to present guidance on specific issues where there is a common interest in achieving resolution. The guidance is intended to enable all parties to engage with the historic environment constructively; to help provide clarity in relation to planning; to avoid circumstances in which heritage assets become an unreasonable or unexpected constraint; and to create greater certainty for all concerned.

Raising the Bar (Phase II) builds on the findings of the first Raising the Bar report through a series of city roundtables and investigates the potential of FM to remodel itself as a strategic business asset. The report investigates the specific challenges faced by FM. Interviews were conducted with small focus groups of facilities managers in 12 cities across the globe representing economically diverse regions. Attendees shared their experiences and opinions on the difficulties faced by FM management and the discipline as a whole, the methods appropriate to value FM performance in line with business frameworks and the initiatives FM must take to adopt a more strategic orientation.
